Under the NSS Technical Cell, Kerala, VISAT, Elanji proudly houses two units with a vibrant community of 200 volunteers. Our NSS strives to promote student welfare in various dimensions: discipline, character development, physical fitness, cultural appreciation, and selfless service to the community.

Special Camps, Blood Donation Drives, Independence Day Celebrations, and Awareness Programs for both students and the public are just a glimpse of our yearly endeavours. BLOOD DONATION CAMP

The NSS unit of the college organized a voluntary blood donation camp as part of our community service club in the college campus. The camp was conducted in association with Amrutha Hospital, Kochi and was sponsored by HDFC Bank, Muvattupuzha. College Director Rtd. Wing Commander Pramod Nair inaugurated the camp. Amrutha Hospital Administrator Mr Radhakrishnan, Principal, Registrar, Deans, Various Department heads along with the NSS volunteers present in the function. The hospital appreciated the good move from the College for this voluntary donation of blood.

The camp was successfully completed with a donor count of around 40. The NSS volunteers of the college coordinated the event with support from the management.

AYURVEDA MEDICAL CAMP

The NSS unit of the college as part of Ayurveda @ 2047 conducted a free Ayurveda Medical on the college campus for the public & college staff on 24/11/2022 – Thursday from 9.00 a.m. – to 1.00 p.m.  The camp was conducted in association with Govt. Ayurveda Hospital , Chellackapady.

The camp was successfully completed with a participant count of around 100. After consultation medicines were also distributed for the prescriptions. The NSS volunteers of the college coordinated the event with support from the management.

PAINTING OF WAITING SHED

The NSS unit of the college painted and renewed the Gramapanchayat waiting shed in Mutholapurom, Elanji in association with the Gramapanchayat. The program was inaugurated by Sri. M P Joseph, Vice President Elanji Gramapanchayat in the presence of ward member Smt. Preethi.

NSS volunteer secretaries Mr Nandu & Ms Neha coordinated the whole program.15 volunteers of the unit participated in the event. They painted and cleaned the building and the surroundings, and renewed the waiting shed which can be used by the public.

The Ward member expressed their gratitude to the students of the VISAT for their work and reached back to the college by 3.30 pm

OLD AGE HOME VISIT

The NSS unit of the college visited Mariyalayalm, an old age home at Elanji as part of our charity program. About 25 students along with 3 staff reached there at 11.30 am by college bus. They spent time sharing their memories, dancing, listening to music etc. along with the inhabitants for 2 hours. They also served lunch for them and had their lunch with them. The collected charity fund from the students and staff Rs. 15000/- was handed over to the coordinators of the old age home

This was a good experience for our students and they enjoyed the time spent with them. The NSS volunteers of the college coordinated the event with support from the management.

ONE STUDENT ONE TREE EVENT

From July 17 to 21, 2023, 200 plant saplings were planted inside our campus. The saplings were provided by the Social Forestry Department, Govt. of Kerala and included a variety of trees, such as Mango, Jackfruit, Rambutan, Elanji, Njaval, Nelli, Chamba etc. The planting was carried out by a team of volunteers from the Forestry Club and Nature Club of the Institution. Students from all the batches participated in the event.

The planting took place in different locations on the campus. The saplings were planted in well-drained soil and watered thoroughly. The volunteers also placed much around the saplings to help retain moisture.

The planting of these saplings is a significant step towards improving the green space on campus. The trees will provide shade, reduce air pollution, and attract wildlife. They will also help to improve the overall aesthetic of the campus.

The volunteers and staff who participated in the planting were enthusiastic about the project. They expressed their hope that the trees will thrive and provide many years of enjoyment to the campus community. Each student’s name, who has planted the tree was also displayed with the plants.

FORESTRY CLUB

The Inauguration of NSS and Forestry Club activities for the academic year 2022-23 was held on 13/06/22, Monday at 12:30 p.m.  College Registrar Prof. Subin P S welcomed the gathering. Principal Prof. Anoop K J delivered the introductory address. Chairman Sri. Raju Kurian proposed the Presidential address. Sri. A K Saseendran, Honorable Minister for Forests and Wild Life Protection inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp and delivered the inaugural address. 

The inauguration of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan activities for the academic year 2022-23 was also held. Elanji Grama Panchayat President, Adv. Annamma Andrews delivered the special address and inaugurated the same. 

Rev. Fr. Johny Edakkara, Sri. George Kulangara and Sri. Dojin John delivered felicitations. Wing commander Pramod Nair delivered a reply speech. Asst. Prof Akhil Beshy proposed the Vote of thanks. 

After the Inaugural function, Honourable Minister and Sri. George Kulangara planted trees in College Campus as part of the program.
